Collaborative
Divorce
Recognizing
divorce’s traumatic aftermath for estranged spouses
and – often even more destructive – for the
children, collaborative divorce has gained favor as an alternative
to litigation. Not suitable for every divorcing couple,
but in those cases where the parties can agree to participate
openly, reject the courtroom as an option, and accept the
final negotiated settlement – collaborative divorce
can eliminate the bitterness and perceived injustice so
often associated with traditional proceedings.
Principal
attorneys and partners Elizabeth
Dalena and Corinne DeStefano
are experienced in the relatively new area of collaborative
divorce. Both received training in Interdisciplinary Collaborative
Divorce; both are members of the International
Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Ms. DeStefano
is president of the New
Jersey Collaborative Law Group; Ms. Dalena, its secretary.
Ms. DeStefano sits on the Board of Directors of the New
Jersey Council of Collaborative Practice Groups.
